LA CIUDAD EGOÍSTA
Armado de una bebida desechable, mucha paciencia, una camarita y una hija fiel al lado, salí a su encuentro el sábado en el Bellas Artes. La pillé durmiendo siesta a la muy flojita. Con su cabecita al costado, con su bello vestido de niña, con su negro cabello azabache. Los grillos la acompañaban.Después de esperar hora y media, hora y media de conversas, mientras admiro el afán empresarial del chileno en estos acontecimientos callejeros masivos: chapitas de la Pequeña, cintillos de la Pequeña, bellas fotos de la Pequeña a mil.
De pronto al final de la espera, en plena esquina de J. M. De la Barra con Monjitas, apreciamos a la distancia la potente música, la gente que se abalanza y los gritos de todo el mundo –incluyendo los míos. Es que ella que despierta...se pone de pie.
A duras penas mantenemos nuestro puesto en la esquina. Es interesante la enorme cantidad de niños presentes, de gente joven y de gente modesta.
Ella se aproxima: hay algo en sus gestos que la hacen arrogantemente simpática, aparte de bella. Irradia seguridad en lo que emprende, gira su cabecita a diestra y siniestra y cierra y abre sus maravillosos ojitos. Sonríe sólo abriendo su boquita. Pareciera mandarnos mensajes a quienes la admiramos de que sí las muñecas gigantes existen, viven y cumplen sus descabelladas misiones en las ciudades.
Que hay que apoyarlas, entenderlas y protegerlas cada día.
Qué nos pasó con esta marioneta que se tomó la ciudad el fin de semana?
Mis teorías o especulaciones respecto a tanta efervescencia y admiración a su paso, son las siguientes:
1.- Las ciudades necesitan eventos artísticos que las remezan;
2.- Los ciudadanos merecemos estos eventos artísticos gratis cada cierto tiempo;
3.- Hace bien para los niños creer que esas criaturas existen;
4.- Nos hace bien a los adultos, recordar que hasta hace poco también creíamos en esos sueños;
5.- Es maravilloso ver tal cantidad de poleas, engranajes, dispositivos, maquinarias, hombres, al servicio de una ilusión, sólo una ilusión;
7.- Hacen falta eventos urbanos como estos que reúnan a los ciudadanos en cuanto familia, en cuanto a vecinos.
8.- Conviene para las ciudades, que estas situaciones la descoloquen. Que interrumpan el tránsito, que varíen los trayectos, que se atrasen las citas y los compromisos, que se encuentren en las calles los ciudadanos y los amigos que hace tiempo no se veían. Le conviene a las ciudades.
9.- Le hace bien a las urbes que la cultura salga destempladamente a las calles. Que bramen las muñecas y los rinocerontes, que aquí aún hay gente que piensa, que imagina, que desafía, que hace pensar, que se atreve.
10.- Que existimos miles que queremos ser sorprendidos, desafiados, conmovidos, ilusionados.
11.- Porque con actos como los de ella, se rompe el mito egoísta de la ciudad, que arremete, que agrede, que no gratifica.
12.- La ciudad es egoísta porque vela sólo por su frío funcionamiento, por sus estructuras. Es egoísta porque vela por "sí misma" y no por nosotros que somos ese "sí misma". No le importan nuestras emociones. No vela por nuestras emociones. Y los ciudadanos queremos emociones colectivas gratuitas.
Estas especulaciones me emocionan mirando a la Pequeña. También porque me recuerda a mi hija pequeña cuando usaba esos mismos vestidos y esos mismos zapatos y caminaba segura de mi mano chupando un helado por estas mismas calles camino al Forestal.
